This half-day adventure is perfect for young children. Please meet us at Tunnel49’s base of operations 15 minutes prior to your scheduled trip start.

The upper Elk River trip would be a great adventure for families with younger children who may not be ready for more intense whitewater rafting trips. With class 1-2 rapids, the trip is not too challenging and should be suitable for most ages and skill levels.
The trip has a duration of 2.5 hours from arrival at Tunnel49 headquarters to your return and takes place during the summer months of June, July, August, and September. During June and July, there is a chance of getting splashed, which can add to the excitement of the trip. However, during August and September, the river is typically more mellow, providing a more relaxed float. Along the way, you’ll find some great swimming holes where you can cool off on a hot day, and we’ll even provide a riverside snack to keep you fueled up for the adventure.
One of the highlights of the trip is the beautiful scenery. You will float past the 3 sisters, Mt Fernie, and Mt Proctor, offering stunning views of the surrounding mountains. As you continue on the trip, you will have a full frontal view of the ski hill, which is sure to impress.
